Chris Fiset - Four Poems

Children Of Television

Orphan images
scatter in a lost light.

Meanwhile, playgrounds bark
with freezing children.

Luna

The moon's a doll--
tall, and round.

Allow her to sip from a straw
all you haven't done.

Orientation

Your life's a red caboose
in an old cartoon
complete with musical accompaniment
and commercials.

The sun behind the cartoon sky--
make that your destination.

American Dream

We cruise in our sleep,
memorizing languages
in new cars
with radios turned full-blast.

Chris Fiset, a Seattle, Washington native, apprenticed with William Stafford and has been published in Hummingbird. At 30, he accepts the rain and the cold of the Northwest as a challenge to generate sustained bodyheat.
